Basement Bathroom Floor Repair

Recently, I repaired a floor that was lifting due to improper installation and water damage in a basement bathroom. The flooring they had chosen was great – vinyl flooring with a waterproof underlayment adhered – but it was improperly fitted around the train and the edge of the shower.

This project involved scraping up the original sheet vinyl flooring first. The homeowner had pulled it up but not removed all of the glue and remnants from the concrete ahead of laying the new floor. Once scraped, I had to use a quick-level concrete to level the concrete floor before repairing the installation. Once level, I was able to correctly install the new vinyl plank flooring ovetop. Sealant and quarter round, the final steps in making this floor perfect, were installed after the photo was taken.

During the project, I also discovered that the cieling light in the bathroom was improperly installed (by the previous homeowner) and was occasionally sparking – making it a fire hazard. The homeowner purchased a new light fixture while I was on site and I installed that as well for them.

The bathroom is now ready for use by their guests.
